2026/27 UEFA Nations LeagueComplete fixture guide: every group, every matchday, and the kick-off times in European time
The fifth edition runs for eight weeks across two windows in the autumn: 156 matches, 54 nations, opening in Amsterdam on 24 September and closing on 17 November.
The 2026/27 UEFA Nations League was drawn in Brussels on 12 February 2026, and it is built around a single long autumn block: four matchdays inside thirteen days, from 24 September to 6 October, followed by two more in November. The whole league phase is finished in eight weeks.
That shape is the story of this edition. The fifth Nations League has the same four-league structure as the last one, the same promotion and relegation mechanism, and the same route to a four-team final tournament in June. What has changed is the calendar around it. UEFA identifies the opening window as the special feature of the fifth edition: the league phase starts with a prolonged international block in which teams generally play four Nations League matches in close succession.
For supporters the practical effect is simple: there is no shortage of fixtures to plan around. For the teams it means a group can be effectively decided before the November window even starts — and can still be turned over inside it.

How the fifth edition works
Leagues A, B and C each contain sixteen teams in four groups of four. Every team plays its three group opponents home and away, which makes six matches per team and 48 per league. League D is smaller: two groups of three, four matches per team, twelve in total.
From League A, the four group winners and the four runners-up go into home-and-away quarter-finals in March 2027, and the four winners of those ties reach the finals. The bottom team in each League A group is relegated, as is the bottom team in each League B group. The group winners in Leagues B, C and D go up automatically, and the remaining places are settled through two-legged promotion/relegation play-offs. UEFA also states that this edition is expected to be linked to qualification for UEFA EURO 2028 in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, giving some nations a second route into the EURO 2028 play-offs.

Inside Group A2
Group A2 is the tightest of the four on paper: Germany and the Netherlands, plus Serbia and Greece. The two neighbours meet on the opening night in Amsterdam and again on 16 November in Germany, on the final matchday, which means the group can still be live when they play each other for the second time. Several of Europe’s longest-running international fixtures are drawn together in the same group for 2026/27, and because every group is played home and away, each of them happens twice inside eight weeks.

Eight of the pairings above sit inside League A. Germany and the Netherlands renew theirs on the opening night; England and Spain renew the Euro 2024 final three days later; Italy and France meet again in Group A1 for a second consecutive edition of the competition; and Croatia and England are together again, having also been drawn into the same group at the 2026 World Cup.
Kick-off times in European time
UEFA publishes the league-phase fixture list with kick-off times in Central European time, and the standard slot is 20:45. Of the 156 matches in the league phase, 109 are scheduled for that slot. The remaining 47 start earlier:
- 15:00 — 7 matches (Leagues B/C/D)
- 16:00 — 4 matches (Leagues C)
- 18:00 — 36 matches (Leagues A/B/C/D) — including Serbia vs Netherlands, Denmark vs Wales, Croatia vs England, Türkiye vs Belgium, Norway vs Wales
In other words, if a match is listed at 20:45 Central European time, it kicks off at the same clock time in Amsterdam, Berlin, Madrid, Milan and Paris. Most of continental Europe is on one clock in the autumn; the exceptions are the countries further east and further west.
Summer time and winter time
There is one detail worth getting right, because it catches people out every November. Central European Summer Time (CEST, UTC+2) applies until Sunday 25 October 2026. From that point the continent moves to Central European Time (CET, UTC+1).
The September and October matchdays therefore run on CEST, and the November matchdays on CET. The published clock time stays the same — 20:45 either way — but the moment in real time shifts by an hour, which is why the local time in some places outside Europe changes between the two windows and in others does not.

For the matches that do not start at 20:45, apply the same offset as the table above. In practice: an 18:00 Central European kick-off is 17:00 in London, Dublin and Lisbon; a 16:00 kick-off is 15:00 there; a 15:00 kick-off is 14:00.

What the league phase decides
By the evening of 17 November 2026, all four League A quarter-final line-ups will be known. The eight teams that finish in the top two of their groups go into the March 2027 quarter-finals, played home and away, and the four winners go to the finals in June 2027, which are still to be given a host.
At the other end, four teams drop out of League A and four out of League B. For the nations in Leagues B and C, the group winners go up automatically — so a good autumn is directly worth a step up in the competition, and, through UEFA’s EURO 2028 route, potentially more than that.
